FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

TRANSPORT

Transport cost is chargeable according volumetric and real gross weight. Common calculation for volumetric weight is 1m3=300kg. In cases when volumetric weight is higher than shipment gross weight, the chargeable weight will be the volumetric weight. And vice versa, when shipment gross weight is higher than volumetric one, the chargeable weight will be the gross weight of the shipment. Advice: when you ask for a transport offer always give the exact dimensions of the shipment in order to avoid transport price to be increased if the dimensions prove to be different than the one you provided in the transport offer.

Transit time is estimated and it is not guaranteed. In the international trnasport there are many factors that could prolong the transit time.

Refund right for late delivery is acceptable in cases where the arrival time is fixed in advance and confirmed by the carrier.

The main difference between pallet network and cargo direct is in the consolidation of the shipments. The term pallet network shipments are considered small shipments from one box to 1-2 pallets, mainly with gross weight of maximum 2500kg. The collection of this shipments is made locally, with smaller vehicles from the exporter loading warehouse address utill the main hub, from where are load in an international truck to the final hub, and from there untill the final recepient. In this type of groupage transport the shipment is a subject to one or more reloadings until the arriving at the final destination. As a cargo direct in the logistics are considered the shipments where the consolidation is not economical in terms of the costs for the local collection and the manipulation in the main hubs. Mainly these are the shipments with more pallets with gross weight that exceedes 2500kg. This shipments are loaded directly with the international truck from exporter loading warehouse and are delivered directly to the importer. In this type of groupage transport the shipments usually are not subject to reloadings.

The price of fuel participates with 35% in the transport price.

Not necessarily. The transporter has responsibility of the shipment during the transportation. But not every transporter has insured his responsibility. Carriers liability insurance (CMR insurance) is not mandatory, but most of the transporters has one. Viator and Vektor Skopje has a CMR insurance in the amount of 100.000 EUR. Advice: Before arranging any type of transport first revise if the transporter has a CMR insurance.

CMR Insurance is a form of goods in transit insurance which covers a carrier's liabilities under the CMR Convention. The base compensation of damage claim under CMR insurance is the International Geneva Convention (CMR), road transport law and the general conditions issued by the insurance company. One of the main premiums in CMR insurance is proveing liability. In case of goods damage, proving that the damage is caused by the transporter is a responsibility of the client. Additionally, the amount of compensation is calculated according to the net damaged goods, and not according to the commercial invoice.

Cargo Insurance is ALLRisk insurance. It is concluded if only requested by the client and it is charged additionally. The base compensation of cargo insurance is according goods value, and base compensation of damage claim is strictly according the conditions issued by the insurance company.

The cargo insurance is connected with the type and value of the transported goods. For the goods that are considered as general cargo the cargo insurance premium is 0.35% of goods commercial value.

The customs procedure dynamics depends on the type of goods, basically on the number of tariffs and the number of items on the commercial invoice. Furthermore, the speed depends on the current situation on the customs terminal where the customs operation is performed.
